By lunch time I decided to go to the Emergency Room of the local hospital (which lucky for me is still open 9-5 weekdays, heaven help me if I have an accident evening or weekends! Thanks muchly Monsieur Harris)... and was seen in no time flat because the intake nurse wrote LOC (Loss of Conciousness) on the top of the form. The on-call doctor had just been called in to deal with a toddler with multiple wasp stings so he was right there to shine a light in my eyes and check my temperature and blood pressure, and then give me a "head injury fact sheet" and send me home to put some ice on my sore neck.
He tells me, You've got a mild concussion. Don't play any contact sports or do anything that you could bang your head again for the next month. Don't sleep for the next 12 hours and make sure there is someone around to wake you up a few times during the middle of the night to judge your coherence.
The sheet he gave me says to come back to the hospital if I have excessive drowsiness, severe headaches or if I vomit incessantly. He informs me that vomiting three times is within the allowable limit, but after three, I should be heading back in. I couldn't help but laughing at the "vomit quota."
My mom, bless her, drove here from Orangeville to spend the night with me. It was really nice because being so busy these past few weeks we've really not had a lot of girl talk. So she kept me awake for my requisite 12 hours by filling me in on her dating adventures and keeping me laughing and smiling. I love you, mom!
All in all when I woke up this morning I had a rather stiff neck, but in general I feel much much better. The naseau is gone, the dizziness, the headache.. yay!
On an unrelated note, I have to log into LJ every time I post, even tho I keep selecting expire NEVER. Its annoying. :(
